Studio Arts (6th - 12th Grade)
The Studio Arts class begins with a lesson in figurative and representational drawing using a range of techniques from basic to advanced. Students learn how to draw realistically by developing deep observational skills and mastering the use of drawing tools. A wide range of techniques are reviewed and practiced including understanding value, light and shadow, form, perspective, atmospheric perspective, how to use sighting for accuracy, shape and pattern recognition, enveloping, gestural drawing, contour drawing, controlling line weight and line value, and more.
Inspyr Arts goal is to help students gain advanced drawing skills based on three important foundational principles: learning how to see, committing to the art process, and embracing craftsmanship. Projects include figure drawing, portrait drawing, skull and skeleton studies, landscapes, animal drawing, and more.
Following the lesson, the instructor becomes the assistant and we hand over the art studio to our students and allow them to continue drawing or to pursue their own art making goals, including painting and sculpture and more.
